Telecommunication Authority of Slovak Republic confirmed that Telefónica O2 Slovakia fulfilled further licence terms and conditions

Inspection by the Telecommunication Authority of Slovak Republic confirmed that as at 07/09/2008 Telefónica O2 Slovakia operated 842 base stations of its own mobile public telephone GSM network. Its network currently covers by signal 88.68 percent of population, which is nearly a double more than the licence requests. By this, Telefónica O2 Slovakia fulfilled all licence terms and conditions regarding network and coverage.

"We have a GSM network, which is the latest in Slovakia. We are using the latest technologies, since we want to provide our customers with top quality services. Aside from our own network, we will keep using also the national roaming," stated Martin Škop, Chief Technology Officer of Telefónica O2 Slovakia.

For the first time, today the operator O2 published the current map of Slovakia's territory coverage. The map shows areas covered by the signal of O2's own network - displayed as dark blue area on the map. The displayed data are of indicative nature only. The map includes also coverage by the signal of T-Mobile Slovakia's GSM network (displayed as light blue area), the services of which O2 customers can use in accordance with the national roaming terms and conditions. The services of O2 are thus available to customers throughout the whole territory of the Slovak Republic.

The O2 Slovakia network works on the basis of the latest technologies. Building of mobile network was primarily concentrated in areas with the highest population density. These areas have been already covered by O2 signal. Now the building continues in non-urban areas. Construction of O2 network involves Slovak companies. The key supplier of the technology is Nokia Siemens Networks, one of the leaders in this field.

The only change that the customer will notice is the change of logo on the mobile telephone display, where the name of the operator "O2–SK" or numerical code "231-06" or the code "SVK–06" will appear.
