The Business Principles also set standards in areas above and beyond what is required by law. All employees within Telefónica Europe are required to follow these Principles. Suppliers to Telefónica Europe are also expected to adhere to these principles.

The Board of Telefónica Europe has overall responsibility for compliance and they ensure they exercise reasonable oversight with respect to the implementation and effectiveness of the compliance programme. The Board has authorised a detailed compliance policy which describes the compliance framework and the various roles and responsibilities within the business.
The Head of Corporate Governance assists the Board in delivering an effective compliance programme.
Compliance with our Business Principles is checked and monitored by a team of compliance officers across the business. They assist local management who have the day-to-day operational responsibility for implementing the compliance programme.
They have the important task of helping managers to ensure that their colleagues have the appropriate skills and training.
Online and direct training is available to ensure that all employees are aware of our Business Principles and know how they should be applied.
