Climate change presents challenges - and opportunities

We have a responsibility for the planet and believe that sound management of our environmental impact is critical to our future.

By doing the right things we can also stand out from the crowd, gain trust, save money, and invest in things our customers most value.

Our objective is to reduce our carbon emissions and our costs, while investing in products and services that help our customers to do the same.

We are committed to minimising our impact. At the same time, we aim to help people stay in touch in more sustainable ways.

Beyond our customers, we work with suppliers to lessen the environmental impact of our devices from ‘cradle to grave’, and we encourage our employees and communities to make lifestyle changes to reduce their personal impact as well.

Overall, our target is to reduce 30% of our electricity consumption per equivalent access from our networks by 2015. But in the run up to that deadline, we want to continue to increase our customer base and the capacity of our network in a sustainable way.
