Our employees are keen to have their say and want to see that they’ve been heard

In turn, we aim to engage with employees in ways that directly lead to the greater satisfaction of our customers, improved revenues and better sustainability.

We try to involve everyone directly in our strategies and targets, especially in terms of our customer focus and our relationship with local communities.

Reflect O2 – our annual employee survey – is the main channel for this. We use it to find out what we do well and what we need to do better.

The survey, conducted by a third party to ensure objective analysis, provides feedback on how employees view O2 and its strategy, the way they are managed and our relationship with customers. The results of this survey are linked to the performance indicators for senior Directors.

In 2007, 9928 people chose to share their views with us via Reflect, a response rate of 76 per cent.

Key results included:

  • 87 per cent - are proud to work for O2.
  • 81 per cent - would recommend O2 to their friends and family as a great place to work.

During the year we built new questions into Reflect to help us measure how well we are fulfilling our employee promise and to engage our employees in our strategy to be the UK’s best network provider.

We introduced a new online tool, MeasureCom, to track scores and make them available to everyone in the business. This enables our line managers to see at first hand how well we are doing and to work with their teams to initiate improvement plans.

We aim for continuous dialogue with employees: face to face, online, through internal events, intraview video, works council meetings, and by various other communication methods.

An Open Voice chat forum on our Vital O2 intranet gives employees the opportunity to talk to each other online, share knowledge, build relationships and get a feel for O2’s culture.

All our offices have ‘intraview’ streaming video links to keep employees up to date with news and developments. Vital O2 includes company-wide web pages on our People Promise, flexible benefits and health and well being initiatives.
