Our Corporate Responsibility report covers the issues that most concern society

Like all businesses, Telefónica O2 UK’s operations affect local communities, wider society and the physical environment.

We believe that our activities create many benefits, but they also raise concerns that may put our relationships and reputation at risk. These are described as ‘material’ corporate responsibility matters.

Ernst & Young LLP provide external assurance and commentary on our Corporate Responsibility report.

During the year the Telefónica O2 UK Corporate Responsibility council kept track of how we were viewed by the media, in market research reports and by customers, opinion leaders and our employees.

This helped us to establish a list of key material issues, which are reviewed as part of Ernst & Young's assurance process.

They are:

1. Protection of children, inappropriate use, and etiquette with mobile phones; Community investment
2. Customer service and satisfaction; Privacy/data protection; Environmental management
3. Climate change; Pricing & regulatory intervention; Employee engagement, motivation and retention
4. Ethical supply chain; Responsible disposal of handsets; Diversity
5. Digital inclusion; Employee ethical behaviour; Health and mobile technology; Network infrastructure; Crime and security
