We are emerging as a full communications and entertainment business. We are a leading provider of mobile services in the UK, as well as providers of broadband services to UK consumers and businesses and a new force in world-class events and music.

With the support of our parent company Telefónica, our business transformed in 2007.

Our services include voice, text, media messaging, games, music and video, as well as always-on data connections via mobile and broadband networks.

  • We have the largest active mobile customer base in the UK.
  • In October 2007 we launched fixed line ADSL broadband, gaining over 100,000 new customers in the first six months.
  • We opened music and events arena The O2 on the site in London previously known as the Millennium Dome during the year.

The O2 was named Music Venue of the Year 2007 by Music Week magazine.

With 18.4 million customers, we additionally have a joint venture business with Tesco Mobile, which topped 1 million customers in 2007.

We entered agreement to be the exclusive distributor of Apple iPhone, launching the UK’s first mass market ‘convergence’ product with mobile voice, text, internet, email, and music player functions in a single device.

We were voted 5th ‘Best Big Company’ to work for in the Sunday Times survey 2007.

The Readers Digest voted us the UK’s ‘most trusted Mobile Network’.

Telefónica O2 UK is the United Kingdom business of the Spanish global telecommunications company Telefónica S.A. and one of six O2 businesses that make up the north European arm of Telefónica’s business, collectively known as Telefónica Europe.
