About this report
We believe it is important to publish a corporate responsibility report every year. It enables us to report on how well our business activities comply with regulations and the law, compare to best practice, and perform against our own annual targets for improvement.
The Telefónica O2 Europe Corporate Responsibility Report 2006 is published in two parts:
- This full and comprehensive online resource details our social, environmental, and ethical policies and performance during the calendar year 2006.

The Spanish-based telecommunications group Telefónica, S.A. acquired O2 plc in January 2006. The O2 businesses now form a division within Telefónica called Telefónica O2 Europe plc. O2 remains an autonomous brand within Telefónica and is the public face of our operations.
The 2006 Corporate Responsibility Report covers all Telefónica O2 Europe operations in the UK, Germany, Ireland, the Czech Republic and the Isle of Man. Telefónica O2 Czech Republic was integrated into O2’s operations after Telefónica’s acquisition and has operated as O2 since 1 September 2006. Our operations in Slovakia began in 2007 and will be covered in subsequent reports.
This report omits information from our joint venture operations, sub-contracted operations (unless otherwise stated) and suppliers’ activities.
Reporting period
This year we have integrated our corporate responsibility reporting with Telefónica’s financial calendar year, January to December. Our report therefore covers 1 January 2006 to 31 December 2006. It overlaps our previous report, which covered April 2005 to March 2006.
The financial information in this report relates to the 11 months from 1 February 2006 to 31 December 2006, unless otherwise stated. For subsequent reports, financial data will cover the full calendar year.
