
Our employees like to have their say in running O2.
Reflect O2 – our annual employee survey – is the main channel for this. We use it to find out what we do well and what we need to do better.
The survey, conducted by a third party to ensure objective analysis, provides feedback on how employees view the company and its strategy, their leaders, the way they are managed and our relationship with customers. The results of this survey are linked into the performance indicators for senior Directors.
In 2006 the survey canvassed 16,020 people from across the Groupa , a response rate of 81 per cent.
Key results included:

82 per cent - would recommend O2 to their friends and family as a great place to work.

Nearly 1,000 O2 UK employees were interviewed to help establish an understanding of how O2 could create a better workplace in 2005. This culminated in the Better Place Summit in January 2006, involving over 200 employees in workshops to identify projects that will help to improve people’s lives – inside and outside work.
In the UK, we introduced the Open Voice chat forum on our VitalO2 intranet, giving employees the opportunity to talk to each other online, share knowledge, build relationships and get a feel for O2’s culture. There are now nearly 9,000 registered users who post views on topics such as ‘How responsible is O2 in the community?’
All UK offices now have ‘intraview’ streaming video links to enable employees to keep up to date with internal news and developments.
Research in 2005 established various challenges that affect employees in Ireland, including increased birth rates, rising house prices and other demographic factors that affect our employees. We aim to create a Future Workplace, where we continue to focus on diversity and disability, and recognise the changing needs of our employees.
In Ireland employees can anonymously ask questions to management through the online forum Think Tank.
