Corporate Responsibility report 2005/06

Recruitment and retention

O2 aims to be a preferred employer - by creating a supportive work environment with pay and benefits through which our employees feel they are well rewarded and can thrive.

We want to foster people’s abilities through training and development within a high-performance culture.

We try to get our employees really involved in our business strategies, in understanding our customers’ opinions and demands, and in fulfilling our responsibilities to wider society. We are active in the communities we serve, through charity partnerships and volunteering schemes.

O2 supports flexible working and family-friendly policies in each of our business units. There are opportunities for part-time working at all levels of the organisation, for people who wish to pursue community service, for women returning after maternity leave and for people with disabilities.

Our policies enable employees of diverse faiths and cultures to work together and carry out their religious obligations while at work.

We also aim to support employees in and out of work. We are determined to take care of their health, safety and wellbeing and to help them achieve a good balance between work and other commitments.

Our recruitment and retention performance, including year-on-year permanent employment growth and length of service Group-wide, is shown here.
