Reducing the opportunities for local pollution

We take steps to minimise any risk of local pollution from our activities and to monitor and measure our performance.

The main risks of pollutant spillage are from losses of stored fuel, including diesel oil stored in tanks at our fixed installations to power emergency generators.
 
We achieved 100 per cent secondary protection of our diesel tanks in 2005 for all businesses, except O2 UK which has 86 per cent secondary protection. Overall O2 has 129 tanks with secondary protection for 123 (95 per cent).

There were no reported discharges of fuel during the year.
