Legislation and compliance

Meeting our legal and regulatory obligations

The O2 Group seeks to comply with all local, national and European environmental legislation and regulation.

We have a group-wide certification to the international voluntary standard ISO 14001 and our performance and progress is regularly reviewed internally and by external auditors.

During the year we prepared each business for compliance to new legislation where appropriate, including:

• The European Commission Waste, Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive
• The Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (RHOS) Directive 2005

We did not incur any environmental fines or enforcement actions against our operating businesses in 2005/06.
