Corporate Responsibility report 2005/06

Employment

O2 has a skilled workforce of 16,205 employees 1

In the UK, we are recruiting, over two years, 1,500 new employees in customer service centres and 500 new employees in retail stores. This will increase our customer-facing employees to three-quarters of our total workforce.

You can find our Group employment costs in our Economics section.

The O2 Executive Committee receives six-monthly or yearly reports on all aspects of our employment policies, spanning equal opportunities, gender, human rights, discrimination and our confidential grievance system.

Policies

O2’s approach is to have clear and open employment policies and to apply them consistently and fairly.

We respect the principles of the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Labour Organisation Declarations.

Our practices may differ from country to country, depending on EU legislation and cultural differences. But wherever our employees are based, we ask them to respect and adhere to our Business Principles – which set out the conduct and standards we expect of the company and its people.

Our policies ensure that we aim to treat everyone fairly and impartially, without prejudice, regardless of age, race, gender, religion, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation or disability. We also aim not to tolerate harassment or persecution or use any form of forced or child labour.
