Environmental protection
Our ambition is to operate our business responsibly with regards to the environment. We manage our impacts on the environment carefully within the rigorous requirements of the ISO 14001 environmental standard, which we were accredited to in 2004.
This enables us to control our energy and water use and waste. We met our measurable environmental performance targets during the year and successfully improved the separation of office waste streams beyond the legal requirements of federal law and improved consumption of paper by introducing double-sided printing.
After launching the mobile phone recycling scheme for employees in March 2004, we are taking steps to increase awareness of recycling and have recently made recycling envelopes available in our shops as well as through the online shop and are planning to run advertising campaigns on the subject.
To improve our own performance further, we will support the 6th European Environmental Action Programme - which aims to tackle climate change, protect nature and wildlife, address environmental issues, preserve resources and reduce waste. Our participation will see us implement a number of initiatives under each heading over the coming years, including boosting the uptake of electricity from renewable sources, cutting transport emissions, and exploring opportunities for installing photovoltaic equipment on the roof of our Munich offices.
