Active in the community
We are committed to making a positive difference to the well-being of local communities in which we operate.
We believe our commitment to these communities is important to their well-being and will help them and our business to flourish in the long term. Our objective is to support local communities and society through projects that deliver sustainable improvements in peoples' lives by building positive relationships and fostering learning. We are particularly interested in supporting projects that use mobile and other advanced technologies to address social causes. We aim to provide our support by building partnerships with charitable and community organisations at a national and international level.
The highlights during 2004 included:
Can Do in the Community
We encourage our people to give time and imagination to promote fundraising efforts of their own in the community.
Weston Spirit
In 2004 we reviewed our strategy on community investment and decdied to adopt a flagship charity - Weston Spirit
Milly's Fund
We maintain a relationship with Milly's Fund with whom we developed the successful 'Teach UR Mum to TXT' campaign, to help parents keep in touch with their children and keep safe.
Prison, Me-No Way!
We help youth at risk by supporting the HM Prison Services' Prison, Me- No Way! Campaign.
Grassroots sport
We derive great benefit from sponsoring sport through our youth programmes and youth engagement.
Protecting young people
There are some concerns about children owning mobile phones, especially in the area of protecting children from seeing inappropriate content and issues around crime, health. We are working hard to address these issues.
