Pictures and the law

With rising public concern about the misuse of camera phones, we have recently reminded customers in the UK of the law on picture messaging.

Using a mobile phone network to send recordings or photos of a violent act is an offence. People who receive and forward them to others are also acting unlawfully.

We recommend to our customers that they contact the police or O2 if they have received a message with a photo or a recording of a violent act, if they have been the victim of an offence recorded on a camera phone, or if they have other concerns.

Our UK Nuisance Call Bureau is available to give practical help. We will also help the police by barring customers who have committed an unlawful act or breached our terms and conditions.
