Parents' guides

The ICIA has also republished its parents' guides, explaining in detail new ways to protect children from inappropriate content.

It is available from O2 stores or at www.o2.ie.

New phone packs will in future enclose a parental authorisation form for permission to access premium-rate content.

No Irish operator currently offers adult content or chat services. However, until the industry's new classification body is in place, we believe there may be some grey areas about exactly what constitutes appropriate content.

O2 Ireland is affiliated to the country's www.hotline.ie service, operated by the Internet Service Providers Association of Ireland and supervised by the Government's Internet Advisory Board. The primary aim of www.hotline.ie is to combat illegal child pornograpy on the internet.
