First to review Irish roaming charges

In February 2006, O2 Ireland became the first operator to abolish roaming charges between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland for all customers. In addition, we abolished roaming charges across Great Britain and Ireland for business customers.

“I am delighted that O2 have stepped up to the challenge and abolished inadvertent mobile phone roaming charges between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. This is good news for O2’s customers and it is now time for the other mobile phone operators to follow their lead.”

Noel Dempsey, TD, Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources, in response to O2 announcement
