In the UK we have implemented ICNIRP's occupational guidelines to protect people working near antennas from possible exposure to radio frequency.
The guidelines require us to protect all workers from potential over-exposure by increasing the distance between the workers and the antennas by using barriers, clear signposting and providing information.
These measures also support the Physical Agents (EMF – Electro Magnetic Fields) Directive, which comes into force in the European Union in April 2008. The Directive will require all EU employers to ensure their employees are not exposed EMF above the exposure limits specified in the Directive. These limits align with ICNIRP's specified occupational exposure limits.
In Germany, we comply with regulations on occupational exposure drawn up by the Professional Association for Industrial Safety and Insurance (Die Berufsgenossenschaft). Compliance with these regulations also guarantees compliance with the European Physical Agents Directive on EMF.
