We engage with our employees through dialogue and want to make sure we increase their choices and opportunities at work.
In 2005 the views of nearly 1,000 O2 UK employees were canvassed to find out what more could be done to improve the experience of working for O2, in preparation for the Better Place Summit. The event, attended by over 200 employees, brought together this insight and identified projects that would give people even more reason to work for O2.
The summit unearthed over 30 promising initiatives, which are now being introduced or further examined. They include new ideas that focus on performance management, career development and wellbeing at O2.
In Germany, a sample of some 150 employees were interviewed to help us analyse our corporate culture and support the start of a major improvement process covering our processes and systems, our organisational culture, leadership, and market and customer insight. Twenty project teams have worked on these areas and a number of improvements have already been implemented.
In Ireland, our employee research revealed that childcare responsibilities, rising house prices and increased commuting time particularly concern our employees. Demographic change, such as an increase in the number of foreign residents working in Ireland, will continue to influence our business and employment decisions.
