Corporate culture

Our annual survey Reflect O2 has revealed that our employees rate their work at O2 very positively.

In the financial year 2005/06 their assessment turned out even better than in the previous year: O2 Germany received the second-highest rating of all business units inside O2 plc.

On average, the survey produced the following findings:

  • 82 per cent of employees feel that they have done something worthwhile for customers in their job.*
  • 78 per cent of employees think that O2 Germany understands what is really important for our customers.*
  • 76 per cent of employees are convinced that we focus on the customer experience.*
  • 90 per cent of employees are proud to work for O2.*

Wellbeing and balance

We want to make a lasting contribution to the health of our employees.

With this in mind, O2 Germany has developed a number of preventative and protective measures.

Every member of our staff can have regular fitness and blood tests free of charge. We also offer a free annual flu vaccination, which last year was taken up by more than 18 percent of our employees.

O2 Germany also provides information to employees about stop smoking courses. A very popular service is the physiotherapy and massage sessions at work, which saves a lot of commuting and waiting time.

In the reception areas of our business premises there are defibrillators so that employees or visitors can be given rapid assistance should they suffer a heart attack. Reception staff have been professionally trained in handling these devices.

We also support our employees in difficult circumstances. If they have financial, work or family problems, they can get professional help from a counsellor free of charge.

As a family-friendly company, we also offer relatives and friends of our employees the opportunity to work out in the O2 gym and to take part in events through our sports programme.

Training and personnel development

We offer all our employees a wide selection of training programmes and seminars.

For managers, the Leadership Programme continues to be successful. On average, every O2 Germany employee undergoes training for 5.5 days a year.

More than 150 colleagues from Telefónica Deutschland who will join O2 Germany by autumn 2006, will, like all other new employees, also be given comprehensive introduction training.

We want our employees to feel good with us and to be proud to work for O2 Germany. The high satisfaction scores achieved in employee surveys show that we are succeeding in this aim, as well as external recognition by the media and other institutions:

Balanced lifestyle

As part of our family-friendly corporate culture, we enable our employees, among other things, to work part-time and flexible hours.

This allows them to keep a balance between their professional and family lives.

Every month we invite employees and their family and friends to a variety of sport and leisure activities. We offer, for example, golfing weekends in Italy, skiing trips to the Alps, or salsa courses. The highlight of the year is the big Corporate Sport & Family Day with beach volleyball, a football tournament and a great variety of other activities.
