How technology helps

As a communications company, we are keen to explore how mobile communications can help to tackle social challenges.

We are attracted to causes and projects where technology in general, and the mobile phone in particular, can make a difference to people’s lives.

In the UK our ‘Just Ask Me’ campaign with Weston Spirit uses the mobile as a medium for young people to keep in touch with their O2 mentors and, in turn, helps sixth-formers to care about even younger pupils.

Technology is also the focus of Schola-21 in Germany, a long-term project providing children with online resources to help their studies and communication skills.

We work in schools in the UK and Ireland to help young people make the transition from education to the world of work. We support excluded pupils near our Slough head office by sponsoring the cyber café and educational centre at Haymill Community Centre.

On the Isle of Man we continue to support the award-winning Telecomputer Bus, which takes technology for schoolchildren around the island by road.
