Policies and practices

O2 respects the principles of the UN Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the International Labour Organisation Declarations, which help to shape our policies and processes.

These may differ from country to country, depending on EU legislation and cultural differences, but they are all underpinned by our Business Principles - which set out the conduct and standards we expect of the company, its management and people.

O2’s business principles determine that we:

  • Treat everyone fairly and impartially, without prejudice, regardless of race, colour, gender, religion, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation or disability.
  • Do not tolerate harassment of any form.
  • Do not use any form of forced or child labour.

Employees are encouraged to report any potential breaches of these principles in confidence and without fear, using a confidential reporting facility.

Work-life balance

Health and safety means more to us than preventing illness and accidents at work. It’s also about helping our employees to stay well by leading healthier lifestyles. We try to enable our employees to enjoy a good work-life balance.

We support flexible-working and family-friendly policies in each of our business units.

Equality and diversity

We are an equal opportunities employer, working hard to create a workplace that is fair and inclusive.

There are opportunities for part-time workers at all levels of the organisation, for people who wish to pursue community service commitments, for women returning after maternity leave and for people with disabilities.

Our policies also enable employees of diverse faiths and cultures to carry out their religious obligations while at work.

We have established a diversity vision, designed to help our operating businesses develop action plans in four key areas: diversity awareness, development of metrics, human resources practice, and accessibility.
