Can Do in the Community

- our community investment programme

We try to make a difference by fostering a culture where O2 employees feel empowered to get things done. We call this ‘Can Do’.

Our community investment programme - Can Do in the Community - supports charities and good causes with which we engage and work in partnership.

We tend to channel our efforts into areas of social need where our technology and skills can help change people’s lives. We also encourage our people to roll up their sleeves and get involved. So we give them time, support and extra funds to help them put something back into the communities they serve.

'Personally, I would use O2 as I know they are not just about profit. They also do more than just give money to charity – they listen to what young people want, they encourage their staff to get involved and really believe in the project they are supporting.' Catherine, 17, high-school student from Wirral involved in the Weston Spirit mentoring scheme.

Our community investment executives are members of the Group-wide O2 Corporate Responsibility Forum, which meets monthly to discuss issues such as our charity involvement.

All employees can help to decide where charity investments should be channelled and they each have a say in local decisions about how and where they can make a difference.

We benchmark all our community efforts through the London Benchmarking Group. This gives us ways to improve our initiatives and to learn from our business peers.
