Telefónica and O2 are celebrating seven years of corporate responsibility reporting with the launch of their 2008 Corporate Responsibility (CR) Reports.
Telefónica, S.A. has published a global report which brings together information from all its operations, providing a detailed analysis of its CR strategy and activities. The strategy focuses on five key areas: business excellence; honest and transparent management; contribution to society’s progress; social and cultural programmes; and effective communication and dialogue.
The online report, which also contains a summary report you can download or print, highlights a 51 per cent reduction in electricity consumption; Telefónica Fundación Proniño programme which helped 106,000 children in Latin America attend school in 2008; the roll-out of Business Principles training to 60,000 employees; and the completion of 1,100 supplier assessments and over 50 supplier audits.
In the UK, Ireland and Germany, we have also published local CR reports online, where you can find tailored information about our social and environmental activities in your country. In the UK, you can find video messages and stakeholder commentary; Ireland moves to the digital world with links with social networking sites and video statements; and in Germany, the report is available in English as well as German for the first time and features text-to-speech functionality for those with visual impairments.
Telefónica O2 Czech Republic has integrated corporate responsibility information into its 2008 Annual Report.
