The sponsorship builds on our existing commitment to music, sport and entertainment and the interactive partnerships we develop. The O2 gives us the chance to take that thinking much further and shows commitment to the things our customers are passionate about: music, sport, entertainment.
Putting customers at the heart of everything we do, we want to show greater loyalty to our customers and have them show greater loyalty to us. Since opening, O2 customers have benefited from exclusive content from leading artists and priority access to shows, major sports events and exhibitions. Under the deal, valued at £6 million per year, O2 and AEG co-operate on three key areas.
These include:
- Bringing exclusive music and entertainment content to O2 phones and devices
- Offering every O2 customer in the UK, Germany, Ireland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia VIP membership privileges at The O2, including priority tickets and upgrades, a members bar and VIP hospitality lounge; fast track entry and reserved parking
- A range of interactive services such as mobile ticketing, music downloads and event guides via O2's mobile Internet portal, O2 Active.
The O2 celebrates its first birthday
- In its first year, The O2 has exceeded all expectations
- More than 12,000,000 voice calls have been made from the venue
- Around 300 texts per minute have been sent from the venue during major events
- On peak days, the O2 shop at The O2 has more footfall than the three O2 Oxford Street stores combined
- The O2 has clocked up ten awards
- Over 7.5 million people have visited
- 149 performances by 60 acts including some of the world’s top music artists have played The O2 Arena
- The Tutankhamen exhibition drew in over 1 million visitors
- 1,719,309 tickets had been sold as at 31 March
- The concept is now being rolled out to other O2 territories, such as Germany and the Czech Republic.
