About Telefónica O2 Europe plc

The Telefónica O2 Europe group comprises integrated fixed/mobile businesses in the UK, Ireland, Germany, the Czech Republic and Slovakia - all of which use 'O2' as their consumer brand.

Telefónica O2 Europe also owns 50% of the Tesco Mobile joint venture business in the UK and Ireland and the Tchibo Mobilfunk joint venture in Germany. In addition, the group includes the Isle of Man fixed/mobile operator, Manx Telecom.

In increasingly competitive European markets, O2 continues to build on its first-half performance. Third quarter ended 30 September 2007, the company  reported an 8.3% growth in total mobile customer numbers, taking the total mobile base to 37.24 million - 3% higher than at the same period last year, with contract customers increasing at an even faster rate of 12%. Revenues of over 3.7 billion Euros were reported for the quarter.

The company was the first in the world to launch and rollout a commercial GPRS (or 2.5G) network. During 2004/05, O2 launched 3G consumer and business services in Germany, the UK and Ireland. O2 became the first operator to have a working 3G network in Europe on the Isle of Man and launched Europe's first commercial High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) on the island in November, 2005.

Building on the O2 brand, the company aims to become the mobile operator of choice through a commitment to offering high quality products and services as well as leading customer retention and loyalty programmes. O2 is committed to demonstrating clearly and powerfully what customers 'can do' with new data services, devices and technology.

Telefónica O2 Europe, part of the Telefónica group, is headquartered in Slough, UK, and has more than 41 million mobile and fixed customers.

O2 announce its results in its territories with Telefónica's quarterly reporting cycle. We reported revenues for the period ended 31 December 2007 of over 14 billion euros.

As part of an enlarged company, O2 will build on its track record of operational delivery, the strength of its brand, and the momentum it has established in all its markets. O2 and Telefónica bring together two strong, successful, growth-orientated companies, creating a strong pan-European/global telecoms player.
