Health & safety issues

We are committed to the highest standard of health and safety across all of our businesses. We have developed a risk-based, Group-wide Health and Safety Strategy to achieve this goal which has been agreed by the Board.

Our Business Principles explicitly commit us to promoting excellent health and safety policies and make it clear that this is the responsibility of all Directors and employees alike. As a company we have pledge to do all that we can to prevent personal injury to employees and damage to property. In return all employees are required to abide by our Health and Safety policies and procedures at all times and to seek immediate help from line managers if they are unsure about any issues or occurrences that could result in a breach.

The CEO of Telefónica O2 UK, acts as Group champion for Health and Safety and champions have been appointed in each of our operating businesses. They liaise with each other through the Health and Safety Committee we have set up to manage our procedures day-to-day. This helps us to make sure we are applying effective Health and Safety measures in a consistent way and that we are producing effective data to monitor our progress in achieving continuous improvements in performance.

We measure our health and safety policies and practices against the OHSAS 18001 standard and apply the same standards to the organisations and people doing work on our behalf. O2 UK and O2 Ireland have both been accredited under this scheme.
