Sir David Arculus was appointed to the Board in 2003. Prior to Telefónica's acquisition of O2, Sir David was Chairman of the Board, from July 2004.
 
Sir David is the former Chairman of the Better Regulation Task Force and served as a Non-Executive Director of Barclays. He also served as Chairman of Severn Trent, Chairman of the IPC Group and, before that, Group Managing Director of EMAP.

Sir David was recently appointed Chairman of the investment bank, Numis Corporation plc.
